The Public Domain issue 11 July 2010
The three case studies in issue 11 have a commom theme - the innovative application of concrete in walling. Each project, in its own way, makes a clear statement about the ability of concrete to be shaped and adapted to respond to its immediate environment. The first case study looks at a simple yet elegant new building at the Mater Christi College in suburban Melbourne; the second focuses on the stunning, internationally acclaimed Sport and Recreation Hall at Berry, on the NSW South Coast; and the final on the AXA corporate headquarters in Melbourne. The technical article in this edition also picks up on the walling theme, covering the basics of colouring concrete.

The Public Domain issue 10 May 2010
In Issue 10 of the Public Domain magazine three project case studies focus on the rejuvenation of sites that qualify as important social and geographic landmarks - Melbourne's iconic St Kilda beachfront promenade; Ballast Point, a rehabilitated industrial site transformed into a magnificent parkland on the inner western foreshore of Sydney Harbour; and Sam Fiszman Park, perched on the northern cliff face above Sydney's famous Bondi Beach. The fourth case study is Manea College, a new senior school at Bunbury, in WA, that demonstrates the effective integration of ESD principles. The technical article looks at the performance of concrete in sulfate conditions.

The Public Domain issue 08 November 2008
Issue 08 of The Public Domain magazine features case studies of some of the best examples of modern landscape architecture utilising concrete. This edition has a particular focus on concrete street furniture. The featured projects - Footscray's Nicholson Street Mall, Barcom Park in Sydney's Darlinghurst, Jacaranda Square at Sydney Olympic Park, and Scarborough Beach in Perth - have each incorporated concrete seating elements, either precast or insitu. These examples demonstrate the wonderful plasticity and finish quality of the material.

The Public Domain issue 07 June 2008
In issue 07 of The Public Domain we look at some a diverse selection of projects that demonstrate excellence in the application of concrete in the public domain. Project featured are the Promenade, part of the exciting Waterfront City development at Melbourne's Docklands; the touching National Police Memorial in Canberra; the excuberant Inlet Sculptures on the Ephraim Island Development on Queensland's Gold Coast and the paving strategy at Canberra's ANU campus. The technical article focuses on some of the construction and design issues surrounding concrete flatwork.

The Public Domain issue 06 March 2008
In issue 06 we continue to look at some of the outstanding projects entered into the 2007 CCAA Public Domain Awards - the commended Glebe Foreshore Walk in Sydney; the River Heart Parklands in Ipswich in Queensland; the Shark Bay World Heritage Discovery Centre at Denham in WA; and the inspiring concrete artwork found at Spiral River, Tamworth, in northern NSW. Public Domain Awards 2007
Winning projects in the CCAA's Public Domain Awards 2007 were announced in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne Cairns in May 2007. Held biennially by Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia, the awards recognise innovative and functional use of concrete in the public domain. Categories judged were Precincts, Skate Parks, Streets, Walls, Paths, Bridges, Public Artworks and Sustainable Design and the best overall project. In 2007, for the first time projects judged best in their state were also awarded. This publication showcases winning, commended, and all entered projects.
