HIGHLY COMMENDED - HANSON AUSTRALIA PTY LTD - GLASSHOUSE MOUNTAINS QUARRY - EDGE PROTECTION HEIGHT MEASURING FLAG

The Hanson Glasshouse Mountains Quarry team have designed and implemented a simple and practical mechanism to reduce hazard exposure for people on site as well as ensuring that edge protection heights can be constantly monitored by light vehicle drivers. Before the change, drivers had to leave their vehicle to measure edge protection by hand. This solution alleviates this safety hazard through the attachment of a durable and visible height gauge to the flexible flagpole already on vehicles and indicates whether the edge height is compliant (green) or non-compliant (red). The gauge consists of durable poly pipe sealed at both ends and provides an easily transferable and cost-effective safety tool.

HIGHLY COMMENDED - CEMENT AUSTRALIA - DIGITISATION OF CEMENT AUSTRALIA FLEET MAINTENANCE

Cement Australia has replaced their previous paper-based system with a digital fleet maintenance platform. The result is a fully integrated solution built-around SAP Plant Maintenance and uses a mobile application (MyPM) which captures key maintenance data for planning, execution and maintenance activity analysis. The solution integrates truck management data into SAP for automated preventative maintenance scheduling, as well as digital service sheets and signoff. Through this new approach, 250,000 documents have been removed from the maintenance system, 100 % of maintenance and defect notifications captured and communicated, and includes the ability for “talk to text” mitigating numeracy, literacy, and handwriting issues.

The hives are located in the industrial space, giving a constant water source at the slump stands, with the native plants providing pollination of local flora.
