Environment, energy and industry highlighted at CMEMC17  

The Construction Materials Environmental Management Conference (CMEMC17), jointly hosted by CCAA, IQA and the Queensland Government (Department of Environment and Heritage Protection) was held in Brisbane on 13 September 2017.  

Some 170 people, including quarry, cement and premixed concrete site operators, environmental managers, senior officers from the state’s environmental regulators and consultants attended this unique event which highlighted a range of key environmental topics for the heavy construction materials industry.  

Delegates gained a global perspective on the industry by the International President of the Institute of Quarrying – Dr Miles Watkins, as well as learning about the latest environmental innovations, how to build an economic case for environmental projects, and the do’s and don’ts of social media.  Attendees also participated in a panel discussion on environmental behaviours, as well as receiving an update from the regulator on key agency priorities.   

As well the winners of the CMEMC17 Inaugural Photograph Competition "Nature On-site” were announced:
