Construction Materials Environmental Management Conference 2018

The Construction Materials Environmental Management Conference 2018 (CMEMC18), co-hosted by CCAA, IQA, and the Queensland Government (Department of Environment and Science) was held at Rydges South Bank Brisbane on Wednesday 12 September 2018.

Some 140 people, including quarry, cement and premixed concrete site operators, environmental managers, senior officers from the state's environmental regulators, and consultants attended this unique event which highlighted a range of key environmental topics for the heavy construction materials industry.

Delegates gained a greater understanding of macrotrends and global efficiency concepts from sustainability expert Maria Atkinson AM, heard the latest on the circular economy from Rose Boyd (Arup), learnt ways in which to foster relationships with Indigenous groups through case studies, and methods by which long range weather is predicted and how to prepare for emergency weather events. Attendees also gained an understanding of international developments in the aggregates sector, as well as receiving an update from the regulator on key agency priorities and compliance trends.
