Helping QLD Grow - CCAA sets out election priorities
A State Extractive Industry Strategy is front and centre for CCAA in its policy priorities statement for the Queensland Election on 25 November. Other priorities set out in CCAA's statement Helping Queensland Grow include: a comprehensive infrastructure plan, a stable framework for energy costs, sensible infrastructure specifications, streamlined regulation and a modern freight and transport network.
Queensland is expected to grow to more than 7 million people by 2036, and CCAA estimates quarry production will need to increase by an extra 30 million tonnes per year to meet this growth. A clear plan is therefore needed for the State to manage future infrastructure and housing costs, minimise truck movements and emissions, and allow the industry to confidently make long term investments for the future.
The priorities statement
has been circulated to major parties in the lead up to the State election, and will be discussed with incoming Government Ministers post 25 November.
